The president of the Valencian Generalitat and the Minister of Agriculture, Environment, Climate Change and Rural Development also visited the educational classroom that, since the end of 2015, has hosted the educational and environmental awareness project for schoolchildren 'The Course of Water'.
Puig praised FACSA's "social responsibility" in raising awareness among children about the importance of respecting the environment.
Castellón, January 27, 2017 The President of the Valencian Generalitat, Ximo Puig, as well as the Minister of Agriculture, Environment, Climate Change and Rural Development, Elena Cebrián, visited the FACSA Control Center today, where they were received by the President of FACSA, Enrique Gimeno; Juan Antonio Llopis, Director of the Sanitation and Purification area; and Pascual Maximino, Director of the Supply area.
Miguel Ortiz, head of the Telecontrol Center, presented the various pieces of equipment to the authorities. These devices allow for centralized, real-time monitoring of both water infrastructure and remote control points capable of measuring over 6,000 parameters that determine optimal water supply and quality. Among other variables, aspects such as network pressure, water flow, chlorine levels, and turbidity are studied at the center. The center also enables remote operation and control of various hydraulic components, such as pumps, valves, wells, and reservoirs.
The authorities also visited FACSA's Educational Center, where they learned about the details of the educational and awareness project for schoolchildren, 'The Water Course,' from its coordinator, Pilar Soria. This program, offered in Spanish and Valencian, was launched at the end of 2015 and aims to raise awareness among young children about the responsible use of water. In its first year alone, it has reached more than 1,500 schoolchildren between the ages of 6 and 9 from some twenty schools throughout the province.
The classroom is equipped with the latest technologies so that schoolchildren can learn about the complete water cycle through augmented reality, 3D animations and simple interactive experiments.
With this visit, the President of the Valencian Regional Government wanted to "recognize" the work that FACSA is carrying out in environmental matters and highlighted the role of education in "forming responsible citizens." "Climate change is one of the great challenges of globalization, and therefore, everything done by companies and public organizations to promote learning, shared responsibility, and awareness among young citizens, as is being done in this classroom, is fundamental," Puig emphasized.
The President of the Valencian Government also congratulated FACSA for “its social responsibility, beyond the purely economic aspect,” and referred to the company as “one of the leading service companies in the Valencian Community, with a presence throughout Spain.” “Yesterday, Thursday, was Environmental Education Day, and today we have come to recognize the work that FACSA is doing and to see and experience all the technological advancements that the application of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) to everything related to environmental education is bringing to the company,” Puig concluded.
