In recent years, episodes of torrential rain have ceased to be an isolated phenomenon and have become a recurring challenge affecting municipalities throughout the province. These increasingly frequent and intense events, due to the impact of climate change, demand effective solutions to minimize their consequences.

In this regard, the Vilavella City Council and Facsa Work is underway on the project "Improvement of the Stormwater Drainage Network in La Vilavella," an initiative aimed at optimizing the collection and channeling of rainwater in the municipality. With a total budget of €125,273.80, this project addresses the need to prevent flooding and minimize the damage caused by the heavy rains that have affected the town in recent years.

The project includes the installation of 55 new storm drains and the renovation and expansion of 132 meters of stormwater pipes with diameters of 250, 400, and 500 millimeters. These infrastructures are designed to efficiently channel surface runoff, directing it toward the collection system and thus preventing dangerous accumulations in low-lying areas of the municipality.

The works are being carried out in key areas such as Camí Rel, the Soneja-Nules road roundabout, Manuel Fabregat Square, Sant Xotxim, Muntanyeta, Partida Castell and Barranc streets, as well as Vieta street and the Vall d'Uixó road. These areas were selected following a detailed analysis of the runoff generated by the heavy rains of 2023, which highlighted the need to improve the existing drainage system.

The project will allow for more effective runoff management, reducing the risk of flooding, debris flows, and disruption to residents. Furthermore, it will help protect the environment and ensure more sustainable water management, adapting to the challenges posed by climate change and the increasingly frequent torrential rains in the region.

With this significant investment, La Vilavella and Facsa They are making progress in modernizing the water infrastructure, reinforcing their commitment to the safety and quality of life of their inhabitants.
