Vila-real strengthens its sewage service with more prevention, digital control and a focus on sustainability

Vila-real takes another step forward in its sewage service by awarding Facsa the new contract for the maintenance and upkeep of the municipal network for the next four years. This is an essential service to guarantee the proper functioning of the urban sanitation system, improve public safety, and maintain a key piece of infrastructure for the city in good condition.

The presentation of the new service was attended by the Deputy Mayor and Councillor for Public Services of Vila-real, María Fajardo, the Director of Sanitation and Wastewater Treatment at Facsa, Luis Basiero, and the Head of Sanitation Operations, Pedro José Martínez. During the meeting, the importance of reinforcing the maintenance of this essential infrastructure for the proper functioning of the city was emphasized.

In this way, Facsa will continue to maintain a network comprised of approximately 170 kilometers of collectors, as well as manholes, catch basins, storm drains, catch basins, and other essential elements for the proper drainage of wastewater and rainwater in the municipality. The company's experience in Vila-real and its knowledge of the city's urban water cycle ensure continuity and technical expertise in the service. This arrangement will allow for management closely aligned with the municipality's actual needs and reinforce the maintenance of an infrastructure essential to the daily lives of its residents.

More prevention, control and response capacity

To this end, the new contract includes routine cleaning and maintenance, CCTV inspections, and technical support for municipal services in cases involving dampness, leaks, or other issues related to the sewer system. This technology allows for the inspection of pipe interiors without invasive procedures, enabling more precise detection of anomalies and informed technical decision-making.

Furthermore, all tasks will be managed through a digital tool that will allow the City Council to have up-to-date information on the work carried out, improve the traceability of actions, and plan maintenance more efficiently and transparently. The service will also offer 24-hour continuous support to respond quickly to urgent calls, such as blockages, leaks, floods, or incidents resulting from rain events, thus strengthening response capacity and public safety.

An eco-friendly vehicle that recycles water and reduces emissions

Sustainability is another key aspect of the service, both through the incorporation of more efficient equipment and the responsible use of resources. In this regard, one of the most noteworthy pieces of equipment will be the new ECO vehicle with an integrated water recycling system, which allows for the reuse of some of the water used during network cleaning and saves up to 50,000 liters per day. Furthermore, it runs on compressed natural gas, significantly reducing emissions, and its LED lighting and advanced design minimize noise in a 50%.
