- The president of the Provincial Council, Javier Moliner, presents the project's website, through which citizens will be able to follow the progress of the work 'live'
The joint venture FACSA-JUJOSA began construction yesterday on the Borriol collector, the new infrastructure that will channel wastewater from Borriol to the Castellón treatment plant and resolve the municipality's sewage discharge problems. The project has a budget of two million euros and a nine-month construction period.
Coinciding with the signing of the commencement of the project – attended by José Claramonte, CEO of FACSA, and Jorge Morales, Infrastructure Director of the Grupo Gimeno company – the President of the Provincial Council, Javier Moliner, presented the new website coleccionistaborriol.dipcas.es. Through this website, the Provincial Council, FACSA, and JUJOSA will provide updates on the progress of this project in near real-time, so that any citizen can be aware of the progress on schedule, the benefits of the project, and other related matters.
In this regard, Moliner stated that “an infrastructure of such length, with the multiple impacts that may arise, deserves and must have a direct channel of interaction with the public to keep them informed daily, transparently and efficiently, with the aim of minimizing the inconveniences of the works and explaining at every moment the steps being taken, the next steps to be taken and each of the consequences of these actions.”.
Technical characteristics of the work
The works aim to construct a collector from Borriol to the Castellón de la Plana wastewater treatment plant, since the current Borriol facility is unable to treat all the wastewater generated in this town, while the Castellón treatment plant has sufficient capacity, thus complying with current regulations regarding the treatment of population centers and discharge into the public water domain.
The main characteristics of the works are the following:
- The collector has a length of 11,166.41 m, of which 6,490.00 m correspond to the main collector, which runs from the current Borriol WWTP to the southeast corner of the new Castellón municipal cemetery and 4,676.00 m corresponds to the Castellón municipal collector.
-
There are two pumping stations. The first is located on the site of the current Borriol wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) to collect wastewater from the lower part of the town that cannot be conveyed by gravity to the new main sewer line. The second is located on the site of the former Marie Claire WWTP and will pump all the wastewater from the town of Borriol, surrounding residential areas, and the industrial zones.
The following improvements will be made to the sanitation network of the municipality of Castellón:
- Renewal of the collectors through which the waters from Borriol flow, with a total length of 2,546.31 meters.
-
Replacement of the current pumping equipment with more powerful equipment at the Plana and Río Seco pumping stations.
-
Creation of a new spillway in the Dussen roundabout area and improvement of existing spillways in Castalia, Ronda Magdalena / Teodoro Izquierdo and Camí La Plana / Caminàs.
