The already palpable effects of climate change demand an increasingly informed and engaged citizenry regarding water resources. With this vision, and focusing on younger generations, Facsa and the Júcar River Basin Authority (CHJ) are launching a new edition of 'Together for Water,' a joint outreach initiative that aims to raise awareness among primary and secondary school students about the importance of caring for and responsibly managing one of the planet's most valuable resources.
From the end of September until June 2026, educational centers in the Valencian Community and Aragon will be able to participate in this initiative, which combines educational, interactive activities adapted to each educational stage to teach in a practical way how water reaches their homes, its integral cycle and the importance of responsible consumption.
The new edition follows the success of the 2024-2025 campaign, which reached 458 students from 11 schools in towns such as La Vall d'Uixó, Vinaròs, Ribesalbes, and Castellón de la Plana. Furthermore, to mark World Water Day, over one hundred students participated in a special event in Castellón's Plaza Mayor. In total, since its inception, 'Together for Water' has reached 882 students from 19 schools, establishing itself as an educational experience with a significant impact on the environmental awareness of new generations.
The program's activities—such as Maya's Journey, The course of the water, The magic of water y #connecttothewater— They allow students to learn about the water cycle and the conservation of ecosystems in a fun and participatory way: from interactive stories to scientific experiments, digital dynamics and visual demonstrations, fostering curiosity, critical thinking and environmental awareness.
A joint commitment to raising awareness and the future of water
This joint project stems from the shared conviction that environmental education is key to protecting aquatic ecosystems and moving towards a more sustainable use of water, both in urban areas and in everyday life. It also builds upon Facsa's extensive experience, which has been developing awareness initiatives on the complete water cycle for over 20 years, and the outreach role of the Júcar River Basin Authority (CHJ), which has been promoting awareness programs on water resource conservation for many years.
Looking to the future, Facsa and the CHJ continue to strengthen their commitment to environmental education, convinced that educating from an early age is key to moving towards a more sustainable, resilient society capable of facing the environmental and climate challenges that await us.
