  • The implementation of the new pilot system starts this week and will be free for the user.
  • Among other advantages, remote meter reading allows subscribers to know their consumption in real time and receive notifications in case of leaks or excessive consumption.

The Vila-real City Council and FACSA, the company that manages the Public Drinking Water Supply Service in the town, have completed the installation of the new smart meters in the Pilar neighborhood of the municipality, specifically in the area between the Río Ebro avenue, the Camí Real and the Rosellón and Polo Bernabé streets.

The work has been carried out progressively over a period of approximately two months, and a total of 754 smart meter reading devices have been installed. This new installation of smart meters continues the project initiated in 2017 in the Nou Crist del Calvari neighborhood, which achieved a water efficiency rating of 98%, resulting in significant cost savings for customers thanks to the detection and immediate notification of internal leaks.

Among other advantages, this innovative system allows for remote readings without the need to access homes, thus avoiding unnecessary inconvenience to subscribers and consumption estimates from meters located inside residences.

Similarly, remote meter reading allows for real-time monitoring of consumption data and enables the detection and notification of any anomalies, leaks, or excessive consumption to customers. This measure reduces water losses and gives users greater control over their water usage, resulting in lower bills.

With this same objective, FACSA will implement in the near future a new personalized notification subscription service, which will send automatic messages to the mobile phones indicated by the subscribers regarding consumption data on certain dates, exceeding a predetermined maximum consumption, etc.

In addition, users will have access to their invoices and consumption data digitally, both through FACSA's virtual office (eOficina) (https://facsa-eoficina.grupogimeno.com) and via the company's new smartphone app (http://www.app-eoficinafacsa.com). This way, subscribers can obtain a comprehensive overview of their contracts and easily manage any related transactions 24/7, without having to travel or wait.

Within the framework of this action, the Vila-real City Council and FACSA, through the Councilor for Public Services, Francisco Valverde, and the company's Head of Operations, Rafael Ferrer, presented the details of the project this morning at the headquarters of the Pilar residents' association, demonstrating, once again, that they are at the forefront of technology in an increasingly demanding field such as the management of drinking water.
