The mayor of Vall d'Alba, Marta Barrachina, has visited the network renewal works that Facsa, the company that manages the drinking water supply service of the town, has carried out in the last year in order to improve the supply to its residents.
These improvements stem from the drinking water network renewal plan that the city council is carrying out in partnership with Facsa. This renewal plan, which began in June 2021 and is expected to be completed by mid-October of this year, includes the replacement of 7,000 meters of pipes ranging from 50 to 250 mm in diameter, 67 residential connections, 35 valves, and 20 irrigation outlets.
This project involves both the execution of the civil engineering work and the installation of new pipes and components in the drinking water network. It will also be completed with the resurfacing of the affected streets.
Marta Barrachina expressed her satisfaction with the progress of a project that “is very close to completion.” “With this initiative, we will not only improve the water pressure and flow reaching the homes of our residents, but we will also improve the quality of an essential service, while committing to sustainability and efficiency by preventing water losses—a scarce resource—which will contribute to protecting the environment,” she stated.
With all this, the municipality will experience a clear improvement in the quality and sustainability of the service thanks to the increased pressure and the increased performance of the network, since breakdowns and water losses in the renovated areas are limited as much as possible.
The replaced pipes are located in those areas of the distribution network that have experienced the highest number of leaks in recent years due to the degradation and aging of the materials. Specifically, the work has taken place in Calle Unión (La Barona), Mas de Torrero, Mas del Sepell, Mas d'Archant, Mas de La Obrera, the Silverio Reservoir outlet pipe, Avda. el Pas, Mas de Cuatre Corrals, Mas de Marcelino, Mas de Botigué, Calle Regal, Mas del Castillo, Calle L'Albea, the Caseta Blanca industrial park, and Mas de Furó.
It should be noted that these actions have involved an investment of more than 600,000 euros and have been fully financed by the Vall d'Alba City Council, without any direct economic impact on the users of the service.
