Given the current climate change scenario, in which episodes of water stress are becoming more frequent and prolonged, and the increasing population pressure in some areas makes it difficult to ensure a continuous supply of water of sufficient quality and quantity, the use of any available water resource is becoming increasingly important. In these circumstances, the use of reclaimed water in applications such as agriculture, garden irrigation, golf courses, and various industrial uses is of paramount interest. It is worth noting that, although its use is still in its early stages in much of the country, some autonomous communities and municipalities have been working for some time to promote the safe use of reclaimed water, accumulating considerable knowledge on the subject.
In this context, on April 19th, at 9:00 a.m., the technical conference “Present and future of reclaimed water. What is the response of the Balearic Islands?» will be held in the Sa Màniga auditorium in Cala Millor (Mallorca), organized by the Sant Llorenç des Cardassar City Council and Facsa. The aim of this meeting is to generate a constructive and informative debate on the role of reclaimed water as a valuable resource for the region. To this end, various experts They will address the topic, covering everything from regulatory, technological and management advances to real success stories in various municipalities of the Balearic Islands.
This content will undoubtedly place the urgency and necessity of adopting measures and making the necessary resources available to society to promote the significant and planned implementation of reclaimed wastewater use on the agenda of public and private entities. The event will also feature the participation of the Director General of Water Resources of the Balearic Islands, Joana María Garau Muntaner, who will inaugurate it alongside the Mayor of Sant Llorenç des Cardassar, Pep Jaume Umbert.
