The president of the Provincial Council of Castellón, Javier Moliner, has inaugurated the new Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) that will serve the town of Barracas, in the Alto Palancia region, and whose operation will be carried out by FACSA.
According to David Miguel, Area Manager for Operations at Gimeno Servicios, in addition to the new inlet collector from the A-23 intersection, the project has enabled the construction of a new Wastewater Treatment Plant. This plant consists of a water pumping station, pretreatment facilities, a biological reactor using extended aeration treatment, and a secondary clarifier. “This ensures proper wastewater treatment, guaranteeing the conditions for discharge into the public waterway, as well as the installation of an outfall pipe for the treated water,” stated David Miguel.
The project has been completed with the installation and construction of drying beds, an operations shed and the construction of an access road, in addition to the medium voltage electrical connection, the drinking water connection, the urbanization of the site and the placement of the fencing.
For his part, the president of the Provincial Council, Javier Moliner, has stated that “these actions are those works that are not seen, they are not in the urban center, they do not attract attention, but they equalize the opportunities of people who live in a town with respect to those who live in a capital, and above all they minimize the impact of human life on the environment in which we live.”.
With this new facility, which represents an investment of €261,492, the Provincial Government now provides wastewater treatment services to 95 of the province's 116 municipalities with fewer than 5,000 inhabitants. In 2017 alone, the facilities served over 72,500 residents and treated more than 6,080,000 liters of wastewater.
