To mark World Environment Day, the Provincial Council of Castelló and FACSA have launched a special activity this week in schools across the province to raise awareness among children about the rational use of water.

The initiative, in which more than 250 students from a dozen schools located in municipalities with fewer than 5,000 inhabitants have participated, has allowed for different workshops, talks and activities to show students how, through small gestures, they can contribute to the care of this resource, both from the point of view of saving and from the point of view of not polluting.

“All the sessions have a strong educational and awareness-raising component since, in addition to explaining what the complete water cycle consists of and its different phases, they aim to reflect on the importance of its proper use and management and how our daily actions affect the conservation of this resource,” FACSA explained.

The provincial deputy for the Integrated Water Cycle, Juan Bautista Juan, has highlighted these types of initiatives "which have a very important awareness-raising character among the children of Castellón regarding the responsible use of such a precious resource as water.".

In this regard, "it is about making children aware of the importance of water as a limited and vital resource and, at the same time, giving them guidelines so that they can acquire a series of habits that promote respect for their immediate environment and, in general, care for the environment," explained FACSA.

Regarding the municipalities that have participated in this edition of the activity, on this occasion the students from Sot de Ferrer, Chóvar, Azuébar, Els Rosildos, Els Ibarsos, Serra d'En Galcerán, Cabanes, Les Useres, Les Coves de Vinromà, Vilafranca del Cid and La Salzadella have been trained.
