Promoting environmental awareness about water from the classroom and doing so inclusively in every corner of the territory, including the smallest municipalities. That is the purpose of the awareness campaign launched by the Castellón Provincial Council y Facsa, which one year travels to villages with fewer than 5,000 inhabitants to bring students closer to the importance of taking care of a resource as valuable as water.
To date, the campaign has reached almost 400 schoolchildren from more than fifteen municipalities such as Caudiel, Traiguera, Montanejos, Sant Mateu, Torre d'en Besora, Soneja, Catí, Culla, Vall d'Almonacid, Almedíjar, Costur or La Llosa.
The Deputy for Integrated Water Cycle Management, Iván Sánchez, praised the initiative, stating that it "is part of the commitment to sustainability and environmental protection shared by the Provincial Council and Facsa. It is essential to educate people from a young age about the importance of caring for and responsibly managing such a precious resource as water," he emphasized.
Through dynamic talks adapted to each educational level, students have been able to discover how the complete water cycle works, the challenges posed by climate change, and what they can do in their daily lives to contribute to more responsible consumption.
In addition to its practical and participatory approach to the urban and natural water cycle, the campaign stands out for its ability to reduce inequalities in access to environmental education. By taking place in less populated areas, it ensures that awareness and training in sustainability also reach children in these less populated regions. “Working closely with the educational community allows us to effectively reach young people, who will be the agents of change in the future for the protection of our environment,” added the provincial deputy.
With actions like this, Facsa and the Castellón Provincial Council demonstrate their shared commitment to the future of the territory, betting on education as an engine of change and on water culture as the cornerstone of a more conscious and responsible citizenry.
