The GESTOR project team, led by FACSA, meets in Castellón

Facsa Management Project

The members of the GESTOR project, an initiative led by FACSA that aims to increase the efficiency of urban sanitation infrastructure, met today in Castellón to advance the development of this innovative system.

During the meeting, each partner presented the results achieved to date, in order to conduct a technical and financial review of the project. They also visited the prototypes installed in Benicàssim and Peñíscola, where the technologies developed through this initiative are being validated.

The R&D project, which also involves the Catalan Institute for Water Research (ICRA) and the engineering consultancy ABM Serveis d'Enginyeria i Consulting SL, aims to create advanced software capable of detecting potential problems or needs in urban sanitation systems in advance. This will help optimize infrastructure management and facilitate adaptation to the challenges of climate change by enabling the detection of potential leaks, discharges, or corrosion of the sewer lines themselves.

While ABM is responsible for simulating the sewer networks, the development of the tool has been carried out by experts from ICRA. Meanwhile, FACSA is working on its validation within the sewer network and is participating in projects related to predicting discharges from combined sewer systems (CSS) and network corrosion.

The project, with file number RTC-2016-4876-5, has been co-financed by the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness and the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) in the Challenges-Collaboration call of the State Program of Research, Development and Innovation Oriented to the Challenges of Society, within the framework of the State Plan of Scientific and Technical Research and Innovation 2013-2016.
