We welcomed the Lanzadera and Trovant Technology team to our facilities. We selected the startup—from among 25 proposals—in the second round of the Corporate Program to help them achieve their goals by offering training, support, and mentoring.
This visit marks the beginning of an eight-month project, in which we will make available to the team our experience, technical resources and work centers, in order to contribute to the development of a system for the treatment of biogas, generated in wastewater treatment plants and other facilities that produce this compound, which will allow us to obtain biomethane (renewable equivalent to natural gas) more efficiently.
Thus, the main objective is to design a system with added value compared to other existing technologies, enabling the production of renewable gas of the same quality at a lower operating cost. This will allow the application of this technology in small installations, which is currently unfeasible with existing technologies. This is especially relevant at this time, as both European and Spanish legislation is being defined for the renewable gas sector and its interaction with the current natural gas system, leading to expectations of significant growth in this sector in the coming years.
To achieve this, we will combine field work piloting the prototype with laboratory work for the validation of results and the issuance of conclusion reports.
In parallel, depending on the results of the aforementioned technology pilot, the business model will be analyzed for its possible future commercial development.
For the management of this project, which will fall under the Sanitation and Purification area, we have defined a work team made up of our colleagues Santiago Querol, current head of operations of the Castellón Wastewater Treatment Plant; Joan Antoni Gimeno, assistant to the head of operations of the Castellón Wastewater Treatment Plant; Mairena García, Area Manager of the Sanitation and Purification Area; and Malú Barrera and Víctor Ferrando, from the Acquisitions and New Business Department.
