The Facsa-UJI Scholarship programme has celebrated its tenth edition with an institutional event at the Jaume I University, which served to highlight ten years of commitment to equal opportunities and the promotion of young talent. Since its launch in the 2016-2017 academic year, this initiative has supported over 240 university students, helping to facilitate their access to and continuation of their higher education studies.
The event was attended by the Mayoress of Castellón, Begoña Carrasco; the Vice-Rector of Jaume I University, Mª Carmen Pastor; the CEO of Facsa, Elena Llopis; and the Head of Institutional Relations for the company in Castellón, Rafael Ferrer, as well as representatives from the Castellón City Council, the organisation that has supported the programme since its inception.
During the speeches, the Vice-Rector Mamen Pastor thanked Facsa for its permanent alliance and collaboration with the public university of Castellón in promoting and supporting university talent through different initiatives, such as these scholarships. “This is an investment in the future of people that will have a positive impact on our social environment,” she pointed out.
For her part, the CEO of Facsa has underlined the special significance of this edition, stating that “today we celebrate more than a new round of scholarships: we celebrate ten years of commitment to young talent”, a journey which, as she highlighted, reflects the vocation with which the programme was born: to support academic effort and generate real opportunities for students.
Llopis has also highlighted the collaboration with Universitat Jaume I over this past decade, as well as the role of Castellón City Council in driving social initiatives. In this regard, he emphasised that “when universities, administration, and businesses move forward together, we are capable of generating a much deeper and more lasting impact,” and pointed out that this alliance is key to building a more equitable and cohesive society.
From a business perspective, the CEO of Facsa wished to convey a message to the scholarship students, emphasizing the importance of continuous learning and personal involvement in their education. “Education is not just a stage: it is an attitude,” she stated, encouraging the students to make the most of this opportunity with curiosity, perseverance, and commitment – values that, in her words, “are what turn talent into value.”.
Finally, the mayoress Begoña Carrasco, pointed out that “this scholarship recognises your effort, perseverance and merit, but it also represents the trust that Castelló places in you. You are called to lead the changes of tomorrow, to innovate, to undertake, to research, to transform and to improve our society”.
The Facsa-UJI Scholarship Programme is one of several projects that the company and the university have in common, which include the Facsa Chair of Innovation in the Integrated Water Cycle, as well as other training and outreach activities aimed at fostering knowledge, innovation, and the professional development of young talent.
Ten years after its creation, the programme continues to grow with the same vocation with which it was born: to facilitate opportunities, support academic effort and contribute to a society better prepared to face the challenges of the future.
