The FACSA Chair of Innovation in the Integrated Water Cycle at the Universitat Jaume I of Castellón (UJI) has launched a new edition of its training course, 'Water Collection and Treatment,' this week. Led by the Chair's director, Professor Sergio Chiva, the course will run until March 14, 2019, in the UJI's Postgraduate and Social Council building.
The course is aimed at professionals, university graduates and final-year students who want to acquire practical training in the collection, treatment and exploitation of water resources.
The sessions aim to help students understand the most general concepts about water resources, the water cycle, aquifers and hydrogeology in general, as well as the problems of pollution and salinity.
Similarly, the aim is to introduce students to the technique of water preparation for human consumption, focusing on the design and equipment necessary to carry out well collection.
On the other hand, the management of water resources and the problems associated with overexploitation, recharge, water reuse or desalination are other aspects that are addressed in this course, which also offers attendees the opportunity to access the latest technologies related to the collection and management of water resources, as well as visit real centers and facilities for water collection, treatment and management.
The program includes talks by experts and professionals in the sector such as Ignacio Morell Evangelista, Professor of Hydrogeology at UJI; Francisco Javier García Castillo, head of the Water Treatment department at FACSA; Arianna Renau Pruñonosa, researcher at the University Institute of Pesticides and Water at Universitat Jaume I; the hydrogeologist José Ramón Jiménez Salas; Miguel Ortiz Gómez, head of Maintenance at FACSA; and Belén Sánchez-Rubio Ruiz, head of the Water Collection and Quality Department at FACSA.
