The Castellón Provincial Council and FACSA have launched a new edition of their awareness campaign on the rational use of water, aimed at students living in towns with fewer than 5,000 inhabitants. This year, the initiative will reach more than 200 preschool and primary school students from a dozen inland towns in the province.

This edition of the initiative, which began in mid-May in the municipalities of El Toro and Teresa, in the Alto Palancia region, consists of holding various informative talks, accompanied by an exhibition of 3D photographs on the integral water cycle and its different phases: collection, distribution, supply, sanitation, purification and reuse.

Since the Provincial Council and FACSA launched this educational activity in 2004, more than 4,000 students have already enjoyed the initiative.

As for the current course, in addition to the schools in El Toro and Teresa, it is also planned to visit the students of Torás, Bejís, Xert, Vilar de Canes, Torre d'en Besora, Rosildos, Ribesalbes and Santa Magdalena, where one of the sessions took place today.

“Through this activity, we try to make everyone, and especially the youngest, aware of the importance of taking care of a natural resource as precious and scarce as water, because we are convinced that the new generations have a fundamental role to play in continuing to take care of the environment,” explained David Miguel, FACSA's Area Manager, during the visit.

For his part, the deputy for the Integrated Water Cycle, Juan Bautista Juan, recalled that “it is essential to educate the youngest members of the household on the reasonable use of water so that they learn to respect the environment, which is why we are launching this campaign that in the medium and long term achieves results in the form of savings in consumption.”.
The activity's special objective is to ensure that, in a fun and dynamic way, the youngest children learn to value the entire process surrounding this resource, as well as to make them reflect on the importance of using it appropriately and responsibly in their daily lives.
