The Almassora City Council and FACSA are currently working on the renovation of the town's drinking water network. This project is part of the Almassora Water Infrastructure Improvement Plan developed by the organization.
The renovation work, which will be completed before the end of the year, has been structured in four phases, with the aim of progressively replacing the oldest pipes in the municipality and improving the drinking water service provided to citizens.
“The most important work will be carried out on Ponent and Santo Cristo streets, where – thanks to the analysis of the mathematical model and the experience of daily operation – very degraded joints and pipes with little transport capacity have been located,” as Patricia Agrasar, head of operations at FACSA, pointed out.
The first phase, carried out on Corell Street and adjacent streets, is now complete, and work is currently underway on Caridad Street and Santo Cristo Street. Once summer is over, renovation work will begin on Ponent Street.
The project includes the installation of 2,570 meters of new high-density polyethylene pipes, with diameters ranging from 75 to 160 mm and a nominal pressure of 16 atmospheres. In addition, 45 gate valves, with diameters ranging from 65 to 150 mm, will be installed, and 188 water service connections and 23 irrigation outlets will be replaced, complementing the existing ones and thus improving the sectorization of the affected areas.
