In Spain, around 6,000 blood, plasma or platelet transfusions are performed every day, with an average of 2,000 people receiving them daily, according to the latest report on Blood Donation in Spain from the Spanish Federation of Blood Donors (Fedsang).
Aware of the great importance of this act of solidarity, which can save up to three lives, FACSA has joined the 'Being a donor never goes out of style' campaign for the first time. This initiative of the Valencian Community Blood Transfusion Center saw the company, part of the Grupo Gimeno services division, transform its training room yesterday into a stage where staff demonstrated their generosity and solidarity by actively participating in blood donation.
Thanks to this solidarity day, the blood reserves of the Transfusion Center of the Valencian Government have received 35 new units of vital fluid, or in other words, 16 liters of blood, the equivalent of almost 40% of the daily needs for the entire province of Castellón.
As Jose Claramonte, General Director of FACSA, points out, “the great reception this campaign has received fills us with enthusiasm and pride and opens the door to future collaborations with the Valencian Community Blood Transfusion Center, in order to continue contributing our bit to this charitable cause that benefits all of society.”.
It's important to remember that anyone between the ages of 18 and 65, in good health and weighing over 50 kilos, can donate blood. Blood is a vital element that cannot be manufactured and can only be obtained through altruistic donations, which take just 10 minutes and can save up to three lives.
