We transform sewage sludge into resources with agronomic value in Tarragona

Vila-seca–Salou composting plant: 23,000 tonnes/year of sludge converted into organic amendment using a closed tunnel system.

We are taking over the management of the Vila-seca–Salou composting plant, a key piece of infrastructure in the Catalan public system, to valorise organic waste and move towards a circular economy model.

Through Grupo Valora, we manage the operation, maintenance, and improvement of this facility. The plant, with a capacity to treat up to 23,000 tonnes annually, transforms sewage sludge into a high-quality organic amendment for agricultural use.

The process is carried out using a tunnel composting system that ensures the sanitisation and stabilisation of organic matter, meeting the highest environmental standards.

Furthermore, we are incorporating improvements to optimise treatment efficiency, such as the use of organic by-products as adjuvants and advanced odour control systems, ensuring sustainable and environmentally sound management.
