We are modernising the Iregua sewage system to reduce pollution and protect the environment.

A 17 km emissary and storm tanks are integrating the discharges from several municipalities in La Rioja to improve purification and protect the river.

We are implementing a strategic hydraulic infrastructure that will improve the sanitation system in the lower Iregua river basin, reducing discharges and guaranteeing their proper treatment at the Logroño treatment plant.

Hand in hand with Imathia Construcción, we are developing a 17-kilometre outfall for ACUAES between Nalda and Logroño, along with an additional 700-metre branch to collect wastewater from Lardero. This project allows for the integration of discharges from municipalities such as Villamediana, Alberite, Albelda, Nalda, and Lardero into a joint system, optimising their management and preventing their direct impact on the river.

The project also incorporates key infrastructures to reinforce the system's resilience, such as the construction of storm tanks in the various municipal branches. These facilities allow for the storage of the initial rainwater flows – the most polluting ones – and regulate their gradual incorporation into the purification system, preventing discharges into the receiving environment during intense rainfall episodes.

With an investment of close to 14 million euros, co-financed by 80%% from Next Generation EU funds, this project represents a significant advance in modernising sanitation in La Rioja.
