We are reinforcing the sustainability of the water cycle with the modernisation of the Maqua WWTP
Comprehensive renovation of the Avilés water treatment plant with IFAS technology, biogas utilisation and advanced odour control.
At Facsa, we drive strategic projects that transform key infrastructure within the integrated water cycle. In this context, we are participating in the ambitious expansion and modernisation of the Maqua Wastewater Treatment Plant in Avilés. This project will enhance the plant's capacity and efficiency in an area with a high industrial load.
The project is being carried out in conjunction with Espina Obras Hidráulicas and Alvargonzález Contratas, and it includes a comprehensive renovation with cutting-edge solutions, such as a new biological line with IFAS technology, new secondary settlers, specific treatment for rainwater, and improvements in sludge management. Furthermore, systems for harnessing biogas and increasing energy self-sufficiency will be incorporated, as will new odour control infrastructure to minimise environmental impact.
Thanks to our experience as the company responsible for operating the Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP), we approach this project with in-depth knowledge of the facility and the territory's needs, moving towards a more efficient, resilient, and circular economy-aligned model of purification.
