Students from the third edition of the Water Collection and Treatment Course of the FACSA Chair of Innovation in the Integrated Water Cycle of the Universitat Jaume I have visited this weekend some of the facilities that the Grupo Gimeno company manages in the province.

During the visit, the students had the opportunity to learn firsthand about the operation of FACSA's Telecontrol Center, from where both the water facilities and the remote control points are monitored in a centralized and real-time manner, capable of measuring the more than 12,000 parameters that determine the optimal supply and quality of the water.

They also traveled to Burriana to tour the water treatment plant that uses reverse osmosis to purify drinking water.

These visits are included in the activities of the Chair's program, which aims to help students understand the most general concepts about water resources, the complete water cycle, aquifers and hydrology in general.

More specifically, the course, -aimed at professionals, university graduates and final-year students- seeks to introduce students to the technique of preparing water for human consumption, focusing on the design and equipment necessary to carry out well extraction.

On the other hand, the management of water resources and the problems associated with overexploitation, recharge, water reuse or desalination are other aspects that are addressed in this program, which also offers attendees the opportunity to access the latest technologies related to the collection and management of water resources, as well as visit real centers and facilities for water collection, treatment and management.

The program includes talks by experts and professionals in the sector such as Ignacio Morell Evangelista, Professor of Hydrogeology at UJI; Francisco Javier García Castillo, head of the Water Treatment department at FACSA; Arianna Renau Pruñonosa, researcher at the University Institute of Pesticides and Water at Universitat Jaume I; the hydrogeologist José Ramón Jiménez Salas; Miguel Ortiz Gómez, head of the technical department at FACSA; and Belén Sánchez-Rubio Ruiz, head of the Water Collection and Quality Department at FACSA.
