Under the same purpose - to contribute to the conservation of the environment and raise awareness about the importance of protecting marine ecosystems - companies specializing in the management of the integrated water cycle and industrial water, Facsa y Sitra,They celebrated this Sunday a new edition of the Beach Cleaning Day, an initiative that every year brings together volunteers from both companies and local administrations – along with their friends and family – to take action against marine pollution.
In this fourth edition—the third in the case of the Balearic municipality—the cleanup took place simultaneously at Playa del Pinar in Grau de Castelló and Cala Gració (Sant Antoni de Portmany, Ibiza), where nearly one hundred volunteers gathered. Between the two locations, approximately 365 kg of waste were collected: 5 kg of microplastics and cigarette butts at Playa del Pinar and 360 kg (mainly plastic packaging and fishing debris) at Cala Gració.
In Sant Antoni, the event organized by Facsa and the local council was supported by the GEA Volunteer Association and the UTE Portmany Municipal Cleaning Service. and the Pomelo Playa beach bar. Representing the town council was the Councillor for the Environment, Pepita Torres, who praised the high turnout and explained that this event marked the end of the series of activities programmed for International Coastal Cleanup Day. Cadet players from the SD Portmany football club also participated as volunteers.
In Castelló, the initiative was spearheaded by Facsa and Sitra, with the support of the Castellón City Council, joining forces to conserve one of the most emblematic natural areas on the Castellón coast. The event also benefited from the collaboration of the NGO Bio-friendly, Those in attendance included the Deputy Mayor of Grau and Councillor for Housing, Ester Giner, and the Councillor for MEnvironment, Cristian Ramírez.
This initiative was also planned for Sant Joan Beach (Alcúdia, Mallorca) but ultimately could not be held due to adverse weather conditions of wind and waves.
With this action, Facsa and Sitra reaffirm their commitment to sustainability and environmental awareness, promoting corporate volunteering as a tool for social transformation and supporting initiatives that encourage reflection on the impact of our daily habits on the environment and acting responsibly in the face of environmental challenges.
