The agreement includes payment deferrals and measures to prevent cuts in the supply of drinking water to families without resources.
The mayor of l'Alcora, Samuel Falomir, and the president of FACSA, Enrique Gimeno, have signed a collaboration agreement in order to promote aid that guarantees families without economic resources access to the supply of drinking water.
Specifically, as the mayor of l'Alcora himself explained, “The goal is to ensure that coverage can be provided to all people who have difficulty coping with the costs arising from a basic need such as the supply of this resource.”.
On the one hand, municipal social services will assess the specific circumstances of each case to determine who will ultimately be eligible for municipal aid. The city council will notify FACSA to avoid service interruption and ensure payment of the agreed amounts. In turn, the company will guarantee uninterrupted service without late fees and will provide the council with documentation and information regarding social assistance discounts.
“Through this agreement we want to contribute to promoting solutions that effectively alleviate the problem of energy poverty and guarantee the supply of drinking water to all households.”, FACSA's president has indicated.
“We must stand by those who are in a more vulnerable and delicate situation, and through this agreement, we reiterate the commitment of the local government team and the city council to prevent cases related to such a sensitive issue as energy poverty from occurring in the municipality.”, the mayor of l'Alcora has remarked in this regard.
In this regard, Falomir has expressed his gratitude to FACSA “"By giving us the opportunity to formalize these types of measures, which are so fundamental to avoiding truly dramatic situations"”.
For his part, the Councillor for Social Welfare, Agustín Chiva, highlighted that “This agreement adds to the initiatives we carry out from Social Services for the benefit of the most needy families in l'Alcora”.
