The project entitled “Advanced Digitalised System for Quality Control of Regenerated Waters (SADAR)” seeks the development of an innovative platform for the management of the quality of regenerated waters, taking into account microbiological parameters.
The project consortium consists of FACSA (coordinator), LUMENSIA and EUROFINS IPROMA, with the Institute of Technology of Informatics (ITI), the Institute of Agrochemistry and Food Technology of the Spanish National Research Council (IATA-CSIC), the Spanish Type Culture Collection (CECT) and the company IOTSENS collaborating as subcontractors.
The objective is to digitalise the information generation process from water regeneration facilities, traditionally known as wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs). The conversion of generated data into digital signals in an innovative device that allows for the detection of multiple pathogens, which are in turn indicators of the quality of regenerated waters, is one of the novelties of this project. The SADAR platform will also allow for the remote management of wastewater regeneration treatments and will feature a Decision Support System (DSS). The combination of IoT and GIS technologies in the development of this platform and its associated device (PathLab) are key aspects that allow for the optimisation of water treatment processes through the inclusion of new technologies and innovative developments in biosensor generation.
