More than thirty profProfessionals from Facsa have visited the facilities of the Universitat Jaume I of Castellón (UJI) within the framework of the Facsa Chair of Innovation in the Integrated Water Cycle, which this year celebrates a decade of promoting collaboration between university and company around the sustainable management of water.
The visit, designed as a day of collaborative work and learning, was organized into two separate sessions to facilitate the participation of different teams within the company. Throughout the morning, attendees were able to explore some of the UJI's most important spaces related to applied research and technological innovation.
The tour included a visit to the Center for Research in Robotics and Underwater Technologies (CIRTESU), the laboratory for testing hydraulic equipment and drones, where projects are developed to improve the efficiency and safety of water cycle infrastructure. The Hydraulics Laboratory, a key environment for research and teaching in this field, was also visited.
The day concluded at the UJI Science and Technology Park (Espaitec), with a seminar on digital twins, a technology with an increasingly important role in the advanced management of water services, and with a final meeting on the university campus that served to further strengthen the relationship between Facsa and the UJI.
Furthermore, during the second session, Facsa colleagues had the opportunity to learn firsthand about the work carried out by the young people of the Down Syndrome Association of Castellón, who, through the Chair, participate in gardening, water, and agriculture workshops at the UJI facilities. On the same day, they also visited the sites where the 'Water for Life' innovation project is being tested. This initiative aims to guarantee access to water and sanitation in rural communities in Ecuador, and involves UJI and Facsa, along with Heliotec, the University of Ecuador (Escuela Superior Politécnica del Litoral), the Maquita Association (Ecuador), and Manos Unidas.
The Facsa Chair of Innovation in the Integrated Water Cycle was established as a pioneering initiative, becoming the first of its kind in the Valencian Community and the second in Spain. Ten years later, it remains an example of how university-industry collaboration can translate into useful knowledge, applied innovation, and solutions to the major challenges facing the water sector.
