FACSA successfully completes the expansion works of the pumping system in the Bay of Palma

Facsa Palma pumping station

FACSA has completed the expansion of the pumping system in the Mallorcan municipalities of Calvià, Peguera, and Andratx. The works, awarded by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Food and the Environment, have increased the volume of water supply to meet the increased demand in these towns.

Specifically, a new 355kW centrifugal pump has been installed to supplement the service provided by the three existing pumps located in Son Pacs. In addition, the electrical system has been upgraded with the addition of two new variable frequency drives and carbon steel suction and discharge manifolds, with the aim of achieving greater energy efficiency and reducing carbon dioxide emissions.

The works, which had a budget of €154,000, will allow the facility to reach a peak flow rate of 3,200 m³/h, compared to the previous 2,700 m³/h. This volume will guarantee the satisfaction of the existing demand in the municipalities surrounding the Bay of Palma.

Within its national growth and expansion strategy, FACSA reaffirms through this latest project both its commitment to R&D&I as a driver of development and its commitment to the environment, both at a social and environmental level.
