- The event, organized by the R&D group of the Spanish Association of Water Supply and Sanitation (AEAS), took place on the 6th and 7th at the Euskalduna Palace in the city
With the aim of analyzing and discussing the digital transformation process taking place in the urban water management sector, the Spanish Association of Water Supply and Sanitation (AEAS) organized the “Meeting for Innovation in Water Management (4.0)” this week. During the event, FACSA—a company specializing in the integrated management of the water cycle—presented some of the projects and initiatives developed by the company.
During the meeting, of whose Organizing Committee FACSA is part, Pilar Soria, FACSA's CSR coordinator, was in charge of presenting the 'Water Course' project to the attendees, as an example of a methodology for educating and raising awareness among young schoolchildren through the use of digital tools that combine augmented reality, three-dimensional technology and its own APP with the aim of achieving the rational use of water.
For his part, Javier Climent, the company's R&D technician, presented to the attendees different applications of 3D computational fluid dynamics (CFD) tools applied to wastewater treatment plants, as well as the latest advances made by the company in modeling.
Finally, Fernando Bagán, Deputy Director of the Supply Area at FACSA, showcased the latest advancements in “Smart Water”, the meter remote reading system implemented by FACSA that collects data remotely and automatically, resulting in fast and efficient management of the supply network.
In general terms, the meeting focused on how innovation affects different aspects of water management, from overall strategy and public procurement to integrated project management and operational management, in both sanitation and wastewater treatment as well as water supply. Furthermore, the event, which paid particular attention to Building Information Modelling (BIM), addressed aspects of digital transformation related to communication, data collection, and augmented reality.
FACSA's collaboration and participation in this meeting reaffirms the commitment of the Gimeno Servicios division to applying innovation in water management, as well as the potential of its R&D division.
