Alcalà-Alcossebre will see almost 3,000 linear meters of drinking water pipes renewed before the end of 2018. This work is part of a comprehensive renewal plan for the distribution network being carried out by FACSA, the company that holds the concession for this service, in both towns.
The company is currently carrying out the renewal of the water mains on Rench, Barquer, Romeral, and Ausiàs March streets in Alcossebre. This work involves replacing the old pipes with new high-density polyethylene pipes with diameters between 90 and 160 mm, as well as installing new service connections to homes. Improving water pressure is another area of focus, which is why the installed pipe diameters have been increased.
Furthermore, in the case of Rench Street, once the works to renew the drinking water network are completed, the road will be remodeled to provide more space for pedestrian traffic.
The construction site was recently visited by Francisco Juan, mayor of Alcossebre, and the Councilor for Urban Planning, José Colom, who were accompanied by representatives from FACSA.
Francisco Juan emphasized that “the renewal of the drinking water network throughout the municipality is essential to guarantee a proper supply for all residents. We are gradually working in all areas of both towns, transitioning to a modern, efficient network adapted to current needs.”.
Among the projects carried out during 2018, the organizations have renovated various areas in the center of Alcossebre, such as the Vista Alegre promenade and Alcalà, Colón, and Hilactes streets. In Alcalà, work has been done on San Nicolás, Virgen de los Dolores, Carrascal, and La Hoya streets, as well as in Juan Vilanova square.
