The Councillor for Public Services in Almassora, Joan Antoni Trenco, visited the construction site of the new water reservoir that will replace the one built in 1932 and triple its capacity. The project, valued at €1,124,000 and scheduled for completion in the first quarter of 2022, will ensure a more reliable water supply for the town in the event of emergencies.
The new storage system is underway following the demolition of the old reservoir. Construction of the new reservoir on the same site is in full swing to replace the equipment after 89 years of service and increase capacity from 1,700 cubic meters to 5,000 cubic meters, as the head of the service indicated during the visit. The new reservoir will receive water from wells 1 (local), 2, and 3 (located almost a kilometer away) and will, in turn, connect to the relief tank via a motorized valve. Together, they will have a capacity of 7,000 cubic meters and will eliminate the water losses currently caused by cracks and fissures in the old reservoir.
The age of the facilities motivates this action to increase the drinking water storage capacity in Almassora.
Prior to the start of the reservoir's demolition, FACSA, the company in charge of the work, dismantled the overhead medium-voltage power line that crossed the reservoir's site, as well as the hydraulic installation that ensures the continuity of the water supply to the population during the demolition. Once the demolition is complete, the workers will construct the new reservoir on the site.
