The Almassora City Council and FACSA, the company that manages the town's drinking water and sewage service, will take advantage of the roadworks on San Luis Street to renew the water supply network and remove the asbestos cement from the pipes. This was announced by the Councilor for Public Services, Joan Antoni Trenco, ahead of the upcoming renovation of this road, which will be funded by the Provincial Council's budget.

According to this report, the improvement works, part of the comprehensive renovation project planned for the area, include replacing the deteriorated asbestos cement pipes with 560 meters of polyethylene pipes, as well as installing 56 residential connections, 14 resilient-seated composite valves, and 12 irrigation outlets. These improvements will reduce leaks and enhance water pressure.

In this regard, Patricia Agrasar, the head of operations at FACSA in Almassora, pointed out that “thanks to the renewal of the old pipes - from the intersection with José Ortiz to Santa Quitèria street (l´Alcora) - we will avoid service interruptions due to possible breakdowns and significantly improve the drinking water infrastructure of the town.”.

For his part, Trenco stressed that the council's intention is "to take advantage of the remodeling works on San Luis street to modernize the system, which is completely obsolete in this area, and thus avoid having to open new trenches in the future, with the economic costs and inconvenience to the neighborhood that this type of work always generates.".

In addition to the work on the water network in this area, FACSA will invest 193,600 euros in Almassora throughout 2019, in order to optimize and renew infrastructure that improves service to homes and water quality and eliminates asbestos cement from the facilities with modern polyethylene pipes that improve transport capacity.

The investments collected this year refer to the replacement of the Tellado well pump, the chlorination booths, the repair of the Rambla reservoir, the installation of continuous chlorine meters, the remodeling of the drinking water network on Purísima street and the works in Santo Cristo and at the José Ortiz intersection for the removal of asbestos cement.
