FACSA publishes an article on computational fluid simulation techniques applied to WWTPs in the specialized journal Chemical Engineering Journal

Facsa EDAR

The prestigious international scientific journal on research and development, Chemical Engineering Journal, has recently published an article prepared by experts from FACSA, in collaboration with the Multiphase Fluids Group of the UJI, on the application of the latest real-scale simulation techniques to a wastewater treatment plant (WWTP).

Specifically, the article presents the results of a redesign project on a biological reactor to improve its performance. The simulation dynamically combines hydraulic behavior with the biochemical reactions that govern the purification process. The CFD models developed were experimentally validated at full scale, both before and after the tank configuration was modified.

FACSA has been a pioneer in the use of integrated CFD-Biochemical modeling and simulation in wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs), enabling it to optimize different process units in a practical and concrete way, both in terms of efficiency and effectiveness. This practical application of simulations allows it to provide a high-quality service to its clients, with innovative technical solutions that result in service improvements.

In this sense, the publication highlights the possibilities that CFD tools offer in the design and control of the process in WWTPs.
