FACSA presents the conclusions of the REMEB project at the VII Conference on Membrane Bioreactors

Elena Zuriaga presents Remeb at the Facsa Web Bioreactors Conference

FACSA, as part of its commitment to innovation applied to the integrated water cycle management, participated in the 7th Conference on Membrane Bioreactors. This event, held at the Autonomous University of Barcelona, brought together some of the leading experts in membrane technology.

Elena Zuriaga, technical manager of the R&D department at Grupo Gimeno, participated in the event with a presentation outlining the progress of the REMEB project. This initiative, led by FACSA and involving representatives from entities and organizations in seven EU countries, including ESAMUR, IPROMA, ITC-UJI, and CCCV, has enabled the development of a novel, low-cost ceramic membrane bioreactor (MBR) made from recycled materials. After filtration, the membrane bioreactor allows for the reuse of water in both urban and industrial treatment plants.

In his speech, Zuriaga explained how this initiative has successfully validated a ceramic, ecological and competitive MBR, made from raw materials, ceramic by-products and agro-industrial waste, which can be used in municipal and industrial wastewater treatment plants.
