- Experts from the Grupo Gimeno company are participating, in collaboration with the Universitat Jaume I, in the NOSE2020 International Congress organized by AIDIC, the Italian Association of Chemical Engineering
FACSA participated in the 7th edition of NOSE, the prestigious International Congress on Environmental Odor Monitoring and Control, which, for the first time, expanded its scope to include other fields such as odor assessment and measurement using different sensory and/or instrumental techniques, the development of simulation models, commercial products, and indoor air quality. These areas are gaining particular interest in the water sector.
During the event, which this year opted for a virtual format, Aina Macias, a researcher from the Multiphase Fluids Group at Jaume I University, presented to members of the scientific and industrial community FACSA's work on odor dispersion modeling through the development of an urban digital twin with which to calculate odor dispersion taking into account the precision of the microscale with the use of computational fluid simulation.
This mathematical approach allows for a more precise determination of the dispersion of odors and other polluting gases in the urban environment, by analyzing the behavior of wind currents under different meteorological conditions. The use of a full-scale digital twin allows for the observation of, among other aspects, each of the buildings, vegetation, and infrastructure that influence the dispersion of substances in the atmosphere.
With this intervention, FACSA reaffirms its commitment to research on the dispersion of pollutants into the atmosphere and the impact of odors through the development of digital tools and with the aim of improving the quality of the services it offers at WWTPs.
As usual, the congress brought together scientists and professionals from around the world to exchange experiences and ideas, and to discuss the main innovations related to odors. This is a constantly evolving discipline that, for years, has generated particular interest in the wastewater treatment sector.
