FACSA presents its digital platform in Zaragoza to improve water security in industry

27 03 2019 Zinnae web Facsa Conference
  • The Grupo Gimeno company is developing the INDRISK project together with IDEYA, ZINNAE and the University of Zaragoza with the support of Innovative Business Groups (AEIs)
  • The Aragonese Water Institute and the Aragon-ZINNAE Water Cluster are organizing the conference 'Water quality in Aragonese municipalities: heading towards 2030'‘

To mark World Water Day, the Aragonese Water Institute and the Aragon-Zinnae Water Cluster organized a technical conference in Zaragoza on water quality in Aragonese municipalities, in which FACSA participated through José Ramón Rada, the company's Area Delegate.

During the presentation, Rada presented the main data of INDRISK, the industrial research project developed together with IDEYA, ZINNAE and the University of Zaragoza and subsidized by the support program for Innovative Business Groups (AEIs) of the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism, whose main objective is to develop a digital tool to increase the water security of the industry, improving the levels of resilience to the structural scarcity of water and drought events.

INDRISK is a water-related risk management application that processes and exploits information obtained in the company's production and supply chain, as well as that operated on other platforms and public servers with relevant data on the water cycle, primarily the qualitative and quantitative control networks of the Automatic Hydrological Information System operated by the River Basin Authorities, AEMET, Autonomous Communities, as well as other SDI platforms under development or in the future.

In this way, INDRISK represents a quantitative risk assessment tool, based on the evaluation of alert scenarios and simulation of critical scenarios, the result of which is the forecast of river flow availability, piezometric levels in aquifers and reservoir levels that, translated into the metrics of a table of indicators, will give rise to the start of protocols and action measures to anticipate the disruptive event.

Specifically, this digital management platform, based on sensors and indicators, will allow the definition of a gradation of alert levels in order to initiate the respective action protocols regarding water management, develop a risk management indicator panel, improve the efficiency of water management and, therefore, the competitiveness of industries, improve water quality, provide criteria for water reuse, and promote the strategic intelligence of the company through proper water management.
The Water Supply System of the Municipality of La Almunia de Doña Godina has been selected as a pilot project to develop the platform, where FACSA has been the operator of this Service since 2010.

The tool is aimed at those sectors in which water is a key factor, either because it is a fundamental part of their supply chain - by incorporating it into their products (agri-food industry) - or for any other circumstance that makes it a key piece of their value chain (water service operators).
The main objectives of this meeting, held in the Goya Room of the Marist Building of the Government of Aragon in Zaragoza, were to present, through very practical examples, some of the fundamental keys in water quality management, as well as to identify new innovation projects for 2019 and to seek and promote solutions adapted to the territorial and socioeconomic diversity of this water resource in Aragon.
