The president of FACSA, Enrique Gimeno, along with the director of the FACSA Chair at the Universitat Jaume I in Castellón, Sergio Chiva; and the co-director of the Chair and director of R&D&I at FACSA, José Guillermo Berlanga, participated today in the 1st Conference of Chairs and Corporate Classrooms at the UJI. A session at FACSA also received special recognition for its collaboration and involvement in this training program, which is celebrating its fifth anniversary this year.
The Vice-Rector for Economics and Administrative and Service Staff, Miguel Ángel Moliner, was responsible for reviewing the progress of this program, which began in 2012 with 3 endowed chairs and 1 classroom, and which last year already included 19 programs: 3 institutional endowed chairs, 12 corporate endowed chairs, 3 corporate classrooms, and one university classroom. This number will soon increase with the establishment of two new endowed chairs and one new classroom.
Moliner highlighted that the Business Chairs and Classrooms Program began its journey with an income of 183,000 euros in 2012 and reached 533,000 in 2017, an amount that means that one out of every four euros that the university receives in terms of patronage comes from these chairs.
For his part, the Rector of the UJI, Vicent Climent, expressed his satisfaction with the progress of this joint project and offered special recognition to the institutions, organizations, and companies that have participated in the various endowed chairs and classrooms "with the aim of promoting research, fostering talent, and addressing society's challenges." In this regard, the Rector explained that "we have come through some difficult years, both economically and socially, and therefore we must especially acknowledge the commitment, courage, and dedication shown by the business world and public institutions to this endowed chair program.".
Climent, who also expressed his gratitude for the work of the entire university community, emphasized that "the endowed chairs and corporate classrooms allow for the funding of specific projects, projects that have a very clear and direct impact on solving problems and meeting the expectations of the surrounding community: energy conservation, public safety, sports, waste management, water resource management, and specific aspects of health and culture." Finally, he encouraged everyone involved in this project to continue working "to advance our society and develop our region based on shared values.".
Along with FACSA, the entities that have received recognition from the UJI at this event have been the City Council of Castelló, the City Council of Vila-real, the City Council of Onda, ASCER, BP, the Provincial Council of Castelló, EuroCop, the Dávalos-Fletcher Foundation, the Valencian Government, GMI, Medtronic, Reciplasa, Torrecid and Villarreal CF.
