The Universitat Jaume I of Castellón and FACSA have today launched the annual call for applications for the 'FACSA Scholarships for UJI Students Residing in Castellón de la Plana'. This program, now in its fourth year, aims to support students from the city in pursuing their university studies. To this end, the company will allocate up to €1,000 in grants to help cover tuition fees for undergraduate degrees during the 2019/2020 academic year at the Universitat Jaume I.
The rector of the UJI, Eva Alcón, and the president of FACSA, Enrique Gimeno, have signed the collaboration agreement to launch these scholarships which, as highlighted by the president of FACSA, “contribute to promoting talent and rewarding effort and excellence in order to, regardless of purely economic factors, facilitate access to the best education for the professionals of the future, which will translate into a greater number of opportunities.”.
For her part, the rector of the Universitat Jaume I emphasized that this collaboration "facilitates university studies for students in the city of Castelló facing economic hardship, but above all, it provides an opportunity for them to demonstrate their talent." Alcón also noted that these scholarships "will enable not only academic training but also the personal development of the students and will open new professional paths for them.".
The call for applications, which has a total budget of €22,000 for the current academic year, establishes the awarding of 10 scholarships for students enrolling for the first time in the first year of a Bachelor's degree program at the UJI. The remaining scholarships will be awarded to students enrolled in the second year and beyond.
The main requirements to qualify for the aid established in the call are that interested parties must have been registered in Castelló de la Plana for at least one year, not possess any other university degree, master's degree or equivalent, and have passed at least 80% of the credits enrolled in the previous course.
For the awarding of scholarships, both academic and economic criteria will be taken into account, so that each of them will be weighted 50% on a maximum score of 10 points.

FACSA and Universitat Jaume I also collaborate closely in establishing training programs and final degree projects, in addition to leading initiatives such as the FACSA Chair of the Integrated Water Cycle at UJI, in order to consolidate higher education and research as key elements to promote the development of talent that will contribute to the advancement of society.
