The new program joins 'The Course of Water' which, aimed at primary school students, is celebrating its fifth anniversary and has already raised awareness among more than 8,000 children from more than 60 schools.
Ascend into the clouds alongside the vapor to learn how precipitation forms, dive into an underground aquifer or the waters of a lake, explore the depths of the sewer system, or fly over a wastewater treatment plant. And all of this through virtual reality.
This is the exciting journey that FACSA offers through #ConnectToWater. Its new educational and environmental awareness program is aimed especially at secondary and high school students, as well as adults. This completely free activity, part of FACSA's commitment to society, aims to further its efforts in raising awareness.
In fact, the program takes advantage of the latest technologies to raise awareness about the importance of using this vital resource responsibly and to internalize good practices related to water culture.
“Sustainability has been at the heart of the company for years, and we are very proud to be able to promote, through these types of initiatives, greater awareness that contributes to generating positive changes in society from an early age, as well as raising awareness about the need to make responsible use of this valuable resource and the effect this has on the sustainability of water cycle management,” said FACSA's CEO, José Claramonte.
For her part, Pilar Soria, head of CSR at FACSA, emphasized that “in addition to promoting a water culture that fosters values such as curiosity, care and respect for the environment, we believe that investing in education is essential so that citizens can also participate in the responsibility of contributing together to achieve a sustainable use of water resources.”.
Immersive experience
The sessions take place in FACSA's Educational Classroom. Using virtual reality glasses equipped with an innovative surround sound system, students are immersed in an incredible journey that allows them to experience firsthand, as if inside a futuristic capsule, the different phases that make up the complete water cycle. From the formation of raindrops that fall to the earth as precipitation to its collection, distribution, supply, sanitation, purification, and reuse.
Aquandroid, a fun animated character, guides and accompanies students on this exciting journey that explains why life as we know it today wouldn't be possible without water. Virtual Reality enhances student motivation, as it provides a fully immersive experience where each participant becomes the protagonist of the story, experiencing it in a virtual environment as if it were real.
Fifth anniversary of 'The Course of Water'‘
In addition to reinforcing FACSA's commitment to innovation, society, and the environment, this program complements 'The Course of Water'. This educational project, aimed at primary school students, celebrates its fifth anniversary this year and has already reached more than 8,000 students from 61 schools in the province since its inception.
Initiatives that demonstrate the pedagogical and educational potential of tools such as virtual reality, augmented reality, 3D animation or APPs to raise awareness among younger audiences about the need to care for our environment.
