Facsa continues to advance in the development of innovative solutions for the valorization of biowaste through its participation in NIAGARA, a European project aimed at transforming this waste into advanced hydrogen-rich fuels, thus contributing to a more sustainable, efficient and circular energy model.
Within the framework of the project, the partner companies and entities recently met at EPFL's facilities in Sion, Switzerland, to share results, review the progress of the different lines of work and define the next steps of the initiative.
During the meeting, the consortium addressed some of the main advances achieved so far, including the identification of bio-waste with the greatest potential to be transformed into energy resources, as well as the development and validation of technologies such as hydrothermal carbonization, gasification and liquid-phase reforming.
The meeting also provided an opportunity to delve deeper into the study of the integration of these technologies for obtaining advanced hydrogen-rich fuels and to analyze the conditions necessary to facilitate their future industrial application.
From Facsa's perspective, participation in NIAGARA focuses on providing a key vision of the market and the scalability of the solutions developed, with the aim of bringing the project's results closer to possible real-world application scenarios.
This new meeting represents a boost for NIAGARA, which continues to advance in the development of innovative alternatives to valorize bio-waste and promote the transition to a more circular economy in Europe.
