With the firm purpose of promoting innovation and new technologies applied to the water sector, the Association of Water Supply and Sanitation of Andalusia (ASA Andalucía) has created a new Working Group, coordinated by FACSA, whose constitution and launch session has recently taken place at its headquarters in Aljarafesa (Seville).

The meeting, which was attended by more than forty people representing more than twenty supplier companies, universities and technology and research centers, served as the launch and starting point of a professional and highly specialized forum through which it is intended to channel, develop and execute a broad program of activities under the coordination of José Guillermo Berlanga, director of R&D&I at FACSA, which will also serve as a meeting point to share knowledge and learn together on this subject.

Thus, this Working Group, which represents the first ASA group specifically dedicated to addressing R&D&I, was created with “a vocation for collaboration, synergy, debate and exchange of experiences,” as highlighted by the manager of ASA Andalucía, Carlos Irigoyen, who presided over the event along with Berlanga, who pointed out that the essential purpose of the project is “to generate a real breeding ground that allows new collaborations between science and business to emerge.”.

Regarding the operating procedures, structure, systems, and methodology of the new Innovation and New Technologies Working Group, in addition to the two official annual meetings, a series of internal workshops are planned to evaluate cutting-edge technologies, research lines, and external R&D projects developed at the European, national, and regional levels. Similarly, internal sessions will be held to foster networking and analyze other areas of interest such as funding, innovative public procurement, idea management, and technology watch, among other topics previously assessed and selected through a survey.

The Working Group is made up of various entities related to the Integrated Water Cycle, representing practically the entire sector: FACSA, Centa, Emasesa, University of Cádiz, University of Córdoba, Areciar, Aljarafesa, Hidralia (Suez), Aguas del Huesna, Everis Ingeniería, Emasa, Cyclus Id, Grupo Inclam – Watener, Global Omnium, Aguas de Cádiz, Aqualia, Chiclana Natural, Dam, Codeur, Egemasa, Gestagua, Giahsa, Ingae, Somajasa/Acciona Agua, Valoriza Agua and Veolia.
