Facsa has acquired Aigües Sant Lluís, the company responsible for managing the municipal water supply and sewage services of Sant Lluís, Menorca. This acquisition strengthens the company's presence in the Balearic Islands and marks the beginning of a new phase for the service, which will be managed with continuity, collaboration with the City Council, and the expertise of the local team.
Aigües Sant Lluís manages the municipal concession until 2040 and serves more than 5,500 subscribers. Its operational area includes 115 kilometers of water supply network, 68 kilometers of sewage system, nine reservoirs, and eleven wastewater pumping stations.
Sant Lluís has over 7,300 registered inhabitants, but the population served increases considerably during the peak tourist season. The municipality has the fourth-highest number of tourist accommodation places in Menorca, with over 6,200 beds in hotels, in addition to second homes, which, according to official data, number over 1,700. Based on consumption data recorded by the tourism service, it is estimated that the total population during peak season can reach 28,000 people, almost four times the resident population. This strong seasonality generates significant fluctuations in demand and requires particularly rigorous planning of resources and infrastructure.
This context makes experience in managing highly seasonal systems a key factor in guaranteeing service quality and continuity throughout the year. “This acquisition aligns with our strategy of growing in territories where we can contribute experience and value. Aigües Sant Lluís is a company with in-depth knowledge of the service and the municipality. Our priority will be to preserve that knowledge, add technical capabilities, and support the team in this new phase,” explained Jose Claramonte, CEO of Facsa.
The operation is part of the company's strategic roadmap until 2030, aimed at consolidating the business, strengthening the organization and growing in an orderly manner in territories and activities linked to its experience.
Facsa has a well-established track record in the Balearic Islands, where it participates in the management of water supply, sewage, sanitation, wastewater treatment, and desalination services and infrastructure in Mallorca, Menorca, Ibiza, and Formentera. This presence has allowed the company to develop specific expertise in the challenges of water management in island territories, characterized by limited resource availability, seasonal demand, aquifer sensitivity, and the particular importance of hydraulic and energy efficiency.

Facsa will integrate Aigües Sant Lluís gradually, leveraging the experience of its team and the collaboration of the company's various technical and corporate departments. The goal is to combine knowledge and resources, maintain customer service proximity, and progressively incorporate specialized capabilities in water planning, network monitoring, energy efficiency, asset management, and customer service.
