Following the signing last December of the collaboration agreement for the fifth program of “FACSA Scholarships for UJI students residing in Castelló de la Plana”, the company FACSA and the Universitat Jaume I have today awarded a total of 27 scholarships to undergraduate students of the University, intended to help them pay their tuition fees.
The program has received a total of 180 applications, which have been analyzed taking into account both academic and economic criteria, in order to determine which students would receive the 21,900 euros budget.
The scholarship award ceremony, which was held virtually, was attended by the rector of the UJI, Eva Alcón; the president of FACSA, Enrique Gimeno; the mayor of Castelló, Amparo Marco; the vice-rector of Students and Social Commitment, Inmaculada Rodríguez; the manager of the UJI General Foundation, Juan Antonio Bertolín; and the director of the Drinking Water Service of FACSA, Manuel Breva.
The president of FACSA, Enrique Gimeno, congratulated the scholarship recipients and highlighted their hard work and commitment to excellence as key to obtaining better opportunities for professional growth. In his remarks, he also emphasized the essential role of universities in building a better society and expressed the company's commitment to continue collaborating with Universitat Jaume I, as well as with the City Council, to promote talent and address other challenges aimed at the sustainable economic and social progress of our city.
For her part, the Rector of Jaume I University, Eva Alcón, highlighted FACSA's effort and exemplary commitment to the Castellón community and future generations, and expressed her gratitude for their support of talent through these scholarships. The Rector also encouraged the scholarship recipients to "take advantage of this opportunity to grow both personally and professionally through university education." Finally, she affirmed that the UJI will continue to promote financial aid so that no one is excluded from university education for economic reasons.
Finally, the mayor of Castelló, Amparo Marco, also highlighted “the commitment to the talent of Castelló residents that these scholarships represent, and the sensitivity of the company FACSA, the Universitat Jaume I, and the City Council in helping to create new opportunities and promote the educational process for young people.” Along these lines, Marco emphasized other initiatives promoted by the City Council to foster and reward talent, such as the Ciutat de Castelló Talent Scholarships and the Europa Transforma Castelló Competition. “In this way, we contribute to the financial burden of continuing studies in the current context of economic impact resulting from the pandemic,” the mayor pointed out.
