- Among other advantages, the action increases the efficiency of the service and reduces the costs associated with the maintenance and management of water consumption.
The Siero City Council and FACSA, the Grupo Gimeno company responsible for managing the drinking water service in the Asturian towns of Pola de Siero and Lugones, will install their smart remote meter reading system in both municipalities. This service will allow the replacement of the old meters with new ones equipped with the technology necessary for real-time data transmission.
Among other advantages, the new system will provide users with daily meter readings, as well as relevant service information such as personalized alerts for potential leaks or unusually high consumption, preventing water loss and excessive usage costs. Additionally, a platform will be launched this year allowing all users with the new meter to check their daily water consumption.
The data collected by these new meters – which will be installed in all homes in the municipalities over the next two years – will be processed on a state-of-the-art software platform, which has already been made available to the Siero City Council, where all incidents will be analyzed and reports will be prepared that will allow for better management of the water system.
It is worth noting that the renewal of the entire stock of meters will not entail any additional cost for users, who will not need any type of wiring or additional installation in their homes.
In turn, it will avoid having to access homes to take readings, with all that this entails, such as being able to keep up to date with bills for a home that is not normally inhabited or that is rented, among others.
For its part, the City Council will be able to carry out optimized management of the water distribution system.
