The main objective of the renovation work being carried out in the town of Almassora, in the province of Castellón, is to progressively replace the oldest water pipes and improve the drinking water service provided to its residents. This work began last June and is being undertaken by the town council and FACSA, the company contracted to provide the drinking water service.
The project, structured in four phases, is now reaching its final stage with the start of the drinking water network renovation works at strategic points in the maritime district of Almassora. The most significant work will be carried out on Ponent Street, where severely deteriorated pipes and connections with limited flow capacity and a high rate of leaks have been identified.
Similarly, the branch line in the northern section of Avenida del Meridià will be renewed in order to provide drinking water to the existing connection in that section.
As Patricia Agrasar, head of operations at FACSA, pointed out, “thanks to the renewal of these pipes, the inconveniences caused to subscribers will end, both due to the continuous presence of works in the area and the interruptions generated in the supply of drinking water.”.
The network renewal work includes the installation of 480 m of PE100 high-density polyethylene pipe, 90 mm in diameter and rated for 16 atm of working pressure, as well as 49 residential connections, connections to the existing network, and four DN85 PN16 resilient-seated gate valves. DN40 irrigation outlets with Barcelona-type fittings, including ductile iron bodies, covers, and valve boxes, will also be installed.
The aim of the works is none other than "to improve the service for the residents of the beach and put an end to water leaks and the low pressure that the supply sometimes suffers in this area," as pointed out by the Councilor for Public Services of Almassora, Joan Antoni Trenco, who visited the works area yesterday next to Agrasar.
With the execution of this project, framed within the Plan for Improvement of the Hydraulic Infrastructure of the town, the Almassora City Council and FACSA reaffirm their commitment to the constant improvement of the city's water resources and the service to the citizen.
