Professionalizing the water sector is essential to continue addressing current and future water-related challenges. In this regard, Facsa y Sitra They participated in the third edition of the Water in Vocational Training Conference, a meeting held at the IES Beatriu Fajardo de Mendoza in Benidorm that has become an annual benchmark for the sector.
The event brought together students, teachers, companies, administrations and universities with the aim of analyzing the most in-demand technical profiles in the field of integrated water management, as well as the training challenges of the sector.
Laura Gabín, head of the Training department and Development from Facsa and member of the Training group of the Spanish Association of Water Supply and Sanitationwind (AEAS), She spoke to address the key factors for tackling the challenges facing the water sector, highlighting the importance of training as a driver for professionalizing the sector and adapting skills development to the needs of the labor market. On behalf of Sitra, Claudia Muñoz, Quality and Continuous Improvement Technician, shared the company's experience and explained the relevance of the professional profiles that make up her team. She also emphasized how technology is increasingly linked to industrial water management.
The event, organized by the IES Beatriu Fajardo de Mendoza, also included the participation of leading entities and companies such as AEAS, Hidraqua, Dinapsis, the Institute of Water and Environmental Sciences of the University of Alicante and the Benidorm City Council, with the support and sponsorship of Caixabank-Dualiza.
This year, the event focused on the shortage of qualified personnel in the sector, identifying the most in-demand profiles, and the importance of appropriate academic guidance. It also addressed current issues such as the use of reclaimed water and the role of artificial intelligence in water management, underscoring the need to continue advancing the specialization of future professionals in the sector.
