The companies of Grupo Gimeno have installed a network of smart meters connected to the management and control software system that will allow PortCastelló to know the consumption in real time, detect possible leaks and optimize the service.
The commitment to digital transformation has reached the water supply service of the Port of Castelló, thanks to FACSA and IoTsens. The two companies, part of the Gimeno Group, have designed and implemented the necessary infrastructure to integrate the South Dock of PortCastelló into the Smart Water intelligent water management platform.
Specifically, FACSA has installed a smart meter at each of the supply points for the concessionary companies. These meters have been integrated into the intelligent management and control software platform created by IoTsens, allowing for the near-instantaneous acquisition of all consumption data generated by the port sector concessions operating in the South Dock.
“Among other advantages, this system allows real-time access to meter readings, the management of alarms, the consultation of graphs and historical consumption data, and the creation of balance sheets to verify the efficiency and proper functioning of the system,” explained Pascual Maximino, Director of the Supply Area at FACSA, who emphasized that, “for the customer, this tool offers added value through a greater capacity for data analysis, as it provides detailed consumption information and generates alerts for potential issues in their individual installation.”.
In this regard, Ignacio Llopis, Managing Director of IoTsens, stated that, “as soon as an anomalous reading is detected, the action procedure is immediately initiated, since thanks to this system, which has a specific communication protocol for IoT called LoRaWAN, we can locate the possible fault, report it and act quickly to repair it, which optimizes response times and increases the quality and efficiency of the service.”.
Furthermore, through the eOffice, the user can set their own alarms based on their demand needs and perform any administrative task, such as updating their data or obtaining invoices.
Expansion
The implementation of this system in the South Dock is the initial phase of the process, as its progressive expansion is planned to other areas of PortCastelló that currently already have walk-by remote reading and that will be updated to incorporate this modern meter management system, which allows the management of the entire drinking water supply service to the concessionary companies from the platform.
In this regard, the president of the Port Authority of Castellón, Francisco Toledo, emphasized that “with the Smart Water platform, IoTsens has innovated in the digitalization of water consumption control, a resource that costs little but is worth a great deal, and whose consumption must be as efficient as possible.” “Thanks to IoTsens, a company at the forefront of digital innovation, PortCastelló is taking another step forward in digitalization and sustainability, and I am certain that the platform will be implemented in other ports due to the advantages it offers,” Toledo added.
This efficient smart meter system uses the same tools as the Smart Water platform, which also serves Castellón's residential remote meter reading network. However, in the case of the Port, the consumption pattern is different, as it has a central meter that allows for even more precise consumption data and highly accurate real-time calculations.
