Facsa analyzes the challenges posed by industrial-urban symbiosis

Workshop

Facsa has participated in a meeting held within the framework of the second edition of the workshop “Identification of bottlenecks in I-US activities”, focused on the water sector.

During the workshop, different companies and technology centers shared their experience regarding the barriers they have identified within the concept of industrial-urban symbiosis.

Raquel Tamarit, R&D&I technician Facsa, has given a presentation in which he described the potential barriers identified within the Symsites project, whose technology will begin to be validated in a pilot located at the Alcoy WWTP, managed by Facsa during the coming months.

This project aims to recover water, energy, and value-added products such as fertilizers and platform molecules for obtaining biofuels or bioplastics. Furthermore, it stands out for its innovative approach to integrated municipal waste management combined with the reuse and recovery of resources for the industrial sector, creating a symbiosis between the two areas.
