Education and awareness from the classroom: Facsa's formula for promoting water culture

Day of the Facsa 41 1 iguana

Bringing water awareness to new generations and promoting its responsible use has become a priority in the current context, where the effects of climate change—extreme droughts, torrential rains, heat waves—are becoming increasingly frequent. Given this reality, Facsa Since 2004, it has been developing educational initiatives aimed at school children with the goal of promoting more conscious water management from an early age.

As a result of this commitment, a total of 4,616 students from 112 schools across different autonomous communities participated in the company's educational projects during the 2024-2025 academic year. This figure consolidates the reach of its programs and reinforces its role as an active agent in environmental education.

The Watercourse, a well-established initiative

Among the projects, 'The Water Cycle' stands out, a well-established initiative through which the company introduces schoolchildren to the complete urban water cycle using dynamic activities adapted to different educational levels. This year, the program reached a total of 3,771 students in 90 schools across Castilla-La Mancha, Catalonia, the Valencian Community, and the Balearic Islands.

Of this number, 394 students have participated through the campaign promoted by Facsa and the Castellón Provincial Council, which has allowed the initiative to be extended to schools in municipalities with fewer than 5,000 inhabitants in the province. In addition, another 330 schoolchildren have participated in the project through the 'Together for Water' program, developed in collaboration with the Júcar River Basin Authority (CHJ).

Virtual reality and digital awareness

Meanwhile, a total of 845 secondary and high school students from the Valencian Community have been able to expand their knowledge about the integral water cycle and its management through '#conéctatealagua', an innovative proposal that uses virtual reality technology to facilitate an immersive and participatory educational experience.

“At our company, we have the responsibility and commitment to contribute to a society that is more conscious and respectful of this essential resource. Education is a very important tool to achieve this, and we believe that raising awareness in the classroom is the foundation for building a more sustainable and resilient future,” emphasizes Pilar Soria, head of the Corporate Social Responsibility department at Facsa.

With these projects, Facsa The company continues to strengthen its outreach efforts and its commitment to society and the environment, emphasizing education as a transformative tool for addressing current and future water challenges. These initiatives are complemented by awareness campaigns the company conducts in various municipalities, where, through workshops, games, and experiments, it brings water conservation to the public in an engaging and accessible way.
