The APPWIND project aims to develop an innovative methodology to solve the complex problem of calculating the dispersion of pollutants in the atmosphere with high resolution, quickly, at real scale, and in 3D. The project also utilizes digital scanning 3D tools, specialized instrumentation, and innovative experimental techniques for the development and validation of the digital twin.
The consortium is made up of a multidisciplinary team: Universitat Jaume I (UJI) as project coordinator, Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC), Institute of Sustainable Processes of the University of Valladolid (UVa) and FACSA, company of integrated water cycle responsible for presenting the project. The initiative has been presented to EMASESA (Empresa Metropolitana de Abastecimiento y Saneamiento de Aguas de Sevilla SA), the facilitating agent of the R&D project, at the facilities of the San Jerónimo WWTP (Seville), the site chosen for its implementation.
The APPWIND project is co-financed by the Ministry of Science and Innovation (PLEC2021-007943 / AEI / 10.13039/501100011033) and by the European Union “NextGenerationEU” / Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, within the State Program of R&D&I Oriented to the Challenges of Society, within the framework of the State Plan of Scientific and Technical Research and Innovation 2017-2020, the execution period of which will be until 2024.
